As with the Seine, so with the Chicago River, the visual vocabulary of water, bridges, embankments and parks has been a rich source of creativity for artists. In conjunction with the Art Institute of Chicago’s exhibition Van Gogh and the Avant-Garde: The Modern Landscape, the CAC is hosting a hands-on workshop exploring the atmospheric qualities of watercolor painting and changing urban environments.Participants will have an opportunity to create their own watercolor masterpiece to take home. All supplies for this workshop will be provided.Attendees will receive a complimentary ticket to the Van Gogh and the Avant-Garde exhibit at the Art Institute, which closes on September 4.
