If you’re wandering the halls of Mana Contemporary during the open house, be sure to drop in for some great conversations hosted throughout the building — there’s more than just visual art to learn about! On the fifth floor, The Monira Foundation is excited to host Sebastian Mekas, director of Jonas Mekas Studio, in conversation with Chicago Film Society’s Cameron Worden about the ongoing exhibition “Jonas Mekas, Open Archives.”
Designed by noted local architect George Nimmons, Mana Contemporary Chicago is set in a landmark building in the Pilsen neighborhood. Home to studios, exhibition spaces, a library, and more, it’s a nexus for many of the city’s most significant artists and arts organizations. After the conversation, grab food and drinks in the dim lighting of Dusek underneath Thalia Hall, before heading to their below-ground bar, The Punch House, where live DJ’s perform almost every night.
